How to find us
The Welsh School of Architecture is committed to supporting sustainable travel for staff, students and visitors. The School is located in the heart of the City Centre and accessible by foot, bike, bus, train and coach. However, if travelling by car or air is more suitable, the School is well connected.
On foot and by bike
The School can be easily accessed by those travelling on foot and by bike, with attractive paths along the River Taff and Bute Park bringing you into the heart of the City. The School has bike parking at Bute Building, monitored by CCTV. The Security Centre at 70 Park Place sell subsidised bike locks (Master Lock D Lock) for £19 (retail at £34). Cardiff Central Train Station is located within walking distance, approximately 20 minutes, from the School, linking Cardiff with all major UK cities as well as connecting towns and other areas. Cardiff to London service runs on average 17 times per day allowing for an excellent transport service.
There are also four branch line stations in the City that offer good access to Cardiff University campuses; Cardiff Queen Street, Cathays, Heath Low Level and Heath High Level. The closest to the School is Cathays Station, approximately 5 minutes’ walk.
For information on train times, visit National Rail.

The School is in the centre of Cardiff, which is well served by the M4 and is easily accessible from all parts of Britain.
Car share schemes are becoming increasingly popular and well supported, there are number of national schemes that connect people wanting to car share; Go Carshare and Liftshare. You do not need a car to take part. Those in the car can decide to either share the driving, or make a contribution toward the petrol. As no profit is being made, there is no impact on motor insurance.
If you are a Cardiff University member of staff or student, you can take advantage of the universities corporate membership to Liftshare to find people in the University that share your journey.
There is limited car parking in the City Centre, however Cardiff is well provided for in terms of park and ride services. There are three locations to park your vehicle and hop on a bus to take you into the city centre. This is a cheaper alternative to city centre parking and takes away the stress of looking for a parking space.
The School is accessible from all major airports within the UK with Cardiff International Airport being only 11 miles from the city centre. More information on Cardiff International airport and directions.
