Sêr Cymru II fellowship scheme

Sêr Cymru II fellowship scheme

The Sêr Cymru II fellowship scheme is a postdoctoral fellowship scheme aimed at expanding Wales’ research capacity by attracting and developing the next generation of talented researchers in Wales. The scheme is backed by nearly £23m of European funds and £16m from the Welsh Government.

The Sêr Cymru II Scheme will support up to 30 fellows to work at universities across Wales. The Welsh fellowships provide a 3-year fixed-term postdoctoral level appointment, and are aimed at excellent candidates from anywhere in the world to come to work in Wales. The fellowships are open to research in the three pillars of Science for Wales (Life Sciences and Health; Low Carbon, Energy and the Environment; and Advanced Engineering and Materials). The proposed research needs to have a clear applied focus on Wales.

The call requires an applicant to approach a potential supervisor at a Welsh university (http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/architecture/people/research-supervisors) and to seek their support as host and supervisor for their individual fellowship application.

The Welsh School of Architecture is open to applications from high-calibre candidates in the following areas:

  • Energy & Environmental Performance Modelling
  • People and the Built Environment
  • Low Carbon Energy and Urban Transitions
  • Cultures of the City, Landscape and Environment

If you are interested in applying for a Sêr Cymru II Fellowship at the Welsh School of Architecture in these areas, please contact Katrina Lewis, Research Administrator (lewisk2@cardiff.ac.uk), Dr Simon Lannon, Director of Research (lannon@cardiff.ac.uk), or Professor Chris Tweed, Head of School (tweedac@cardiff.ac.uk).
