Relocation of Media Resources into the College

We would like to welcome Cardiff University staff in the Media Resources Centre who will move into the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences with effect from 1 August 2014.

The Media Resources Centre provides a medical illustration service, incorporating photography and video production, graphic design and illustration in support of patient care, teaching and research, and corporate activities. The major focus of the work of Media Resources Centre has been Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) and the Schools within the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences.

The development of the College structure within the University has prompted a review of where services are best managed and provided. In discussions with staff in Media Resources and the Library Services, it was acknowledges that integrating Media Resources staff and services with the staff and Schools who use them most would be beneficial and will enable their strong links with the NHS to be developed in line with the College. It has been agreed that the management of Cardiff University staff in the Media Resources Centre will move into the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences with effect from 1 August 2014.

This is being undertaken as a minor change and in line with the University’s Management of Change policy. There will not be any changes to substantive posts and all existing terms and conditions will remain unchanged.

Carolyn Donoghue – College Registrar and Kathryn Davies – College HR Manager, met with staff from Media Resources on 16 July to present the new staff structure and provide them with an opportunity to ask any questions they might have.

Any queries regarding this matter should be directed to the College HR Manager, Kathryn Davies at daviesk20@Cardiff.acuk or by phone on 2087 98143.

Relocation of Joint Biological Services into the College

In September of last year, Professor Dylan Jones took over from Dr Chris Turner as the Establishment Licence Holder (Animal Scientific Procedures Act 1986). As a result of this, the management of Joint Biological Services transferred to the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences. A Project Board was created to review the current management structure for Joint Biological Services to bring together where appropriate, under a single management structure the activities of all staff engaged in the Cardiff University Joint Biological Services Unit (JBIOS) and Transgenic Units. This is being undertaken as a minor change and in line with the University’s Management of Change policy. There will not be any changes to substantive posts and all existing terms and conditions will remain unchanged.

A meeting has been arranged on 24th July when Carolyn Donoghue – College Registrar and Kathryn Davies – College HR Manager, will meet with staff from both the Cathay’s and Heath campuses to present the new staff structure and provide them with an opportunity to ask any questions they might have.

Any queries regarding this matter should be directed to the College HR Manager, Kathryn Davies at daviesk20@Cardiff.acuk or by phone on 2087 98143.
