Several members of the teaching staff in the Learning & Scholarship Theme at the School of Dentistry have been internationally recognised in recent times with the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) Award for Excellence in Dental Education.

This Award is unique in that it is one of the few opportunities for international recognition of excellence in dental education.  In a typical year, as few as 3 such awards for “Mature Educators” (>8 years’ experience in dental education), are made to entrants from all over Europe.  Since its inception in 2005, six Cardiff staff have won this Award.  The number of Cardiff Dental School staff who have received this award serves as a powerful external recognition of the culture and ethos of excellence in education in the delivery of the School’s teaching programmes.

Sadly, one of the first Cardiff-based award recipients, Dr Mark Brennan (2005 – pictured below) passed away in 2010.  Mark will have been known to many Cardiff graduates as a popular and dedicated member of the teaching staff – his presence is still missed by those who knew him.
