Cancer and medical research scientists from across the UK and China will be brought together for a two day international cancer conference on the 17th and 18th July 2015 at the National Museum, Cardiff, Wales.  The 2015 China-United Kingdom Cancer (CUKC) Conference is being hosted by Cardiff University, together with our partners and co-organisers, Peking University, Capital Medical University and Yiling Group. The four partners are brought together under the Cardiff China Medical Research Collaborative (CCMRC) which is based at Cardiff University’s School of Medicine.

Conference delegates will be welcomed to Wales by Professor Colin Riordan, President and Vice-Chancellor, Cardiff University and Rt Hon Carwyn Jones AM, First Minister of Wales, Welsh Government.

The two day event will bring together elite speakers and distinguished representatives from China and the UK to share state of the art knowledge and experience in clinical, translational and basic research in Cancer. Experts will be invited to communicate science, exchange knowledge and discuss current challenges both at home and abroad. Staff from CCMRC will be heavily involved in arranging this annual conference, which this year returns to the UK, following the success of CUKC 2014 in Beijing, the theme of which was lung cancer.

Conference Co Chair’s, Professor Lu, President of Capital Medical University and Professor Ji, President of Peking University Cancer Hospital and Institute have passed on their hopes for the 2015 event. Professor Lu said: “I hope CUKC can become a worldwide, influential academic platform for oncology research.” Professor Ji said: “I hope it is not only a grand event for academic exchange, but also a great opportunity to share our philosophy and values, strengthen mutual trust and further expand our partnership.”

Professor Wen G. Jiang, Dean of International, Cardiff University and Director of CCMRC describes the annual CUKC as: “a real opportunity to bring together the best cancer minds. We will use this international platform as an opportunity to renew and develop research links to tackle cancer.”

The conference will provide an opportunity to build on the collaborations successes and to strengthen the international effort in the fight against cancer.
