This scheme was launched on 1 July to replace the ‘Discretionary Payments’ scheme.  As the name suggests, it has been developed to reward and recognise staff whose contribution is exceeding expected standards and has been outstanding and worthy of particular recognition.  Applications for awards will be invited and assessed across the University on an annual basis at a given point each year.

All staff (with the exception of staff covered by the Senior Salary Review Scheme) are eligible for this award. Applications are eligible for consideration from staff irrespective of contractual arrangements and regardless of whether the post is externally funded.

There are two types of award:

Outstanding Contribution One Off Award is a one off non-pensionable lump sum award for exceptional contribution and performance to the university.  The member of staff will be recognised as a role model and star performer within the relevant area within the assessment period.

Sustained Outstanding Contribution Award is a consolidated payment of an accelerated increment or contribution point which is pensionable.  It is awarded where exceptional contribution beyond a person’s role and responsibilities has been recognised over a minimum two years, and where no Outstanding Contribution One Off award has been made within the assessment period.

Over the next few weeks, line managers are encouraged to review the contribution of all staff in their areas, and where they feel appropriate to make a recommendation for an award to the relevant School contact listed below.  Deadline for applications is 31 August 2014 at 5pm.  Applications will then be reviewed at a School level before being reviewed at College level .
