The new Student Passport to Wellbeing Learning Central module will provide our students with much needed support as they embark on their adventure abroad.
The University Counselling, Health and Wellbeing Service were conscious that it is normal for students going abroad to feel a mix of emotions, and experience difficulties as well as having an amazing time; whether they are going for a few weeks, months, or an entire academic year.
The module offers a range of support with common difficulties, including homesickness and coping with change, anxiety, depression, relationship problems and money management. It is also designed to give students a space to share their experiences through blogs and discussion forums; where they can include funny stories, travelling mishaps, ask questions and express uncertainties, describe ways they overcame problems, and the life changing moments they had. Sharing these experiences will help them and their fellow students feel connected, and help them to use their experiences to find ways to cope when things are not going as well as they hoped. The forum will be moderated and responded to by staff within the University Counselling, Health and Wellbeing Service.
All students going abroad (and those currently abroad) will be pre-enrolled on this module so they do not need to search for it. It is there for them to use; from choosing their placement, preparing to depart, while they are away, and when they return!
