Professor Donald Forrester appointed as Director of CASCADE and Professor in Child and Family Social Work

We are extremely pleased to announce that Professor Donald Forrester has been appointed as Professor in Child and Family Social Work at Cardiff University and new Director of CASCADE, from January 2016. Donald currently runs the Tilda Goldberg Centre at the University of Bedfordshire, which is one of the largest social work research centres in the UK. His research programme is particularly focused on improving the quality of social work practice. Most recently he has conducted a randomised controlled trial of motivational interviewing in children’s services and an evaluation of the ‘Hackney Model’. He was very involved in advising the Welsh Government on the setting up of the Integrated Family Support Services.

As part of his work at the Tilda Goldberg Centre, Donald is currently Lead Professor for the ‘Frontline’ social work training programme, the independent evaluation of which is being undertaken by CASCADE. Donald will be giving up this role with Frontline before he arrives at Cardiff University and there will of course be complete separation between him and the evaluation, which will be in the final writing-up stage in January and finishing in March.
