CASCADE and the What Works Centre


CASCADE leads the research and reviews work for the new What Works Centre for Children’s Social Care.

This is an exciting initiative funded by the Department for Education to make a substantial positive difference to practice and outcomes for children and their families by improving the quality and use of evidence.

CASCADE coordinates a partnership that includes DECIPHer, the Centre for Trials Research, the Specialist Unit for Review Evidence (SURE) and CORE info at Cardiff University, with expertise in economic methods provided from Warwick University Medical School.

As the Research Partner for the What Works Centre we work closely with a Nesta-led consortium, who are leading on setting up the Centre as an independent entity and engaging the sector.
