5209BR – Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in RF development for high field MRI
In early 2016 Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC) moved to new purpose-built premises housing up to 200 researchers, 4 human MRI systems (2 x Siemens Prisma, 1 x Siemens Connectom, 1 x Siemens 7T), MEG, EEG, TMS, tDCS, a clinical research unit and testing labs. We seek a new faculty member to join the MR research team and to focus on the development and implementation of high field (7T) MRI technology in particular. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to conduct high-quality independent research that maximizes the benefits of 7T MRI to neuroimaging research through optimized use of parallel transmit / receive MR technology and through the development of novel pulse sequences.
This is a rare opportunity to join a successful imaging neuroimaging centre in a phase of strong growth and to work in a vibrant and positive research environment. The combination of MR equipment at CUBRIC offers an excellent environment in which to develop a research group in MR physics / engineering. The successful applicant should have expertise in MR physics / engineering at high field including ideally including pulse programming, pulse design and RF field modelling/mapping, and a relevant publication record. This position would suit a self-motivated individual with a proactive and flexible approach to work, and the ability to use initiative and creativity.
