About James Murray

James has worked at Cardiff University Enterprise since early 2012. Before joining this awesome team he worked in Dundee, Scotland, Kota Kinabalu Malaysia, and London, England. He has won a few awards in enterprise and entrepreneurship and also run (and sold) two small businesses. He holds a MA (Hon) in International Politics (researching past actions of the CIA) and an MSc in International Business, Marketing and HR Management (researching BigPharma). At Cardiff University Enterprise he assists coordinating the of postgraduate & research enterprise activity in the form of iSolve and Enterprising Researcher. He sits on the Cardiff Start meetings, and helps manage the Intern team, and is always on the lookout for new guest speakers and workshop leaders. He also keeps an eye on the Blog, Social Media, helps modernise the operations of the team and enlists local companies for prizes and sponsorship for events. James is also known to love cars, technology, adventure and food. He specialises in team mentoring, experimental entrepreneurship events, research commercialisation, and networking.

Christmas Market: Wednesday 4 December

Cardiff University’s Christmas Market opens on Wednesday 4 December. Its an awesome opportunity to pick up presents and gifts for loved ones before you head home for the Winter Break. We’ll have all sorts from make-up, to food, to hand made gifts to clothes. Bargains to be found – so be sure to come along and join in our festive cheer!

 “Proper food” pioneers Cranks launches campaign to find the FMCG Marketeers of the future

Cranks, regarded as THE original pioneers of “proper food” who sell adventurous and tasty vegetarian sandwiches, wraps and salads in unis the length and breadth of Britain, are launching the Great Cranks Student Sandwich Challenge, an Apprentice-style competition that will give students a chance to see their sandwich on shelf in 2014.

iSolve Applications Open

Applications for iSolve are now open!

iSolve is a programme where multidisciplinary teams of postgraduate students and researchers made up multi-disiplinary teams take a current piece of Cardiff Univeristy reseached technology and see if it has any commercial potential.

The porgramme, to our knowledge, runs in on;y three other institutions around the world: Boston Massechusetts Institute of Technology and University of Cambridge run a programme called i-Teams and University of Oxford rund Science Innovation Plus.

To be part of an exciting and internationally aknowledged project all you need to do read through the projects avaliable this year and then send in an Application form.

Ducktohunt Extended Until Thursday!

Ducktohunt is in full swing with vouchers, cash prizes and a Giant Millies cookie being given out as prizes.


Ducks and Octopuses are hidden all over campus and there are still loads to be found. One lucky winner will also win a brand new paid of Bose AE2i Headphones worth £150!

Find a Duck or Octopus and bring it to our offices during working hours until Thursday to be in a chance to win some fabulous prizes!

This Semester’s (Duck)tohunt is supported by Student Volunteering Cardiff, Skills Development Service and Cardiff University Enterprise in a bid to help raise awareness about where we are, what we do and how we help students become more employable!

Run around campus, find an Ollie or Dollie and win prizes – all you need to do is return them to the Centre for Skills, Enterprise and Volunteering Office on Level 2 of the Students’ Union.
