The Sessions: Workshops & Speakers

Spend your Tuesday evenings from 18.00 – 20.00 (depending on the session) developing your skills for employability. The sessions: workshops and speakers are aimed at taking students from having an idea for a business or having few employability skills to a confident person with the ability to become employed or to start their own venture.

Confessions of a Social Entrepreneur

26 March 2014: C013 Seminar Room, School of Bioscience

6-8pm

As part of our regular series of Enterprise workshops and speaker sessions, we welcome a panel of social entrepreneurs to share their experiences. This informal event will give you the chance to get involved and ask questions to understand the enterprising journeys of our guest speakers and how they are aiming to make a difference in their local community.

We will be joined by Gareth Jones of Welsh Ice for this event. Gareth has experienced the frustrations of getting start ups moving first hand in Cardiff. Unable to get the support he needed for his startup from traditional business support schemes he saw that it was the community of young entrepreneurs who were most forthcoming in offering each other support. This helped develop his view that there was another way to help generate and support entrepreneurship in a much more sustainable manner than at present.

Gareth is one of a kind, a natural and empathic communicator who will always seek to involve everyone in what he is doing and will go out of his way to help people in his own unconventional manner. Since inception Gareth has worked night and day to bring the ICE vision into reality in his gentle and persuasive manner. Come along and have a chat with Gareth on what it means to be a social entrepreneur!
