Discovery Visit Day
Once a year, Cardiff University runs a visit day specifically for young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. The aim of the day is to encourage young people with ASD to consider university and help them prepare for the transition. The programme of the day includes an introduction to university, and outline of the support available for current students with ASD, and a tour to one of the academic schools within the University. The hope is that by attending a smaller, more structured event, pupils will build up the confidence to attend main stream open days at Cardiff University and elsewhere. Attendees of the day will also be invited to our Summer Schools. Whilst the day is primarily aimed at 14 – 19 year olds with ASD, it is open to anyone who would potentially benefit from attending. Teachers / support workers and parents / guardians are welcome to accompany pupils on the day.
