Our Path to 2035)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We can help to realise these aspirations through education development activities, which can include\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/programme-development\/\">new programme development<\/a>, major changes, and re-validation.<\/p>\n<p>By taking a holistic approach to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/programme-scoping\/\">programme scoping<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/programme-development\/\">programme development,<\/a>\u00a0putting the student learning journey at the heart of the design process and fully embedding Cardiff University\u2019s key cross-cutting education themes of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/theme-overview\/inclusivity\/\">inclusivity<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/theme-overview\/sustainability\/\">sustainability<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/theme-overview\/employability\/\">employability<\/a>, we can ensure that our programmes not only meet, but exceed, the University\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/intranet.cardiff.ac.uk\/staff\/supporting-your-work\/teach-and-support-students\/teach-and-assess-students\/curriculum-and-programme-design\/approving-and-managing-programmes\/institutional-expectations\">institutional expectations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Following approval by the Programme Approval and Revalidation Sub-Committee, attention turns to<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/learning-design-preparing-to-teach\/\">\u00a0learning design and preparing to teach<\/a>. During this phase the focus is on aligning learning activities and assessment to the Cardiff education\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/key-principles\/\">principles,<\/a>\u00a0which focus on providing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/key-principles\/principle-1-engaging-learning-experiences\/\">engaging learning experiences<\/a>\u00a0and creating\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/key-principles\/principle-4-effective-learning-environments\/\">effective learning environments<\/a>\u00a0developed in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/key-principles\/principle-3-partnership-and-co-creation\/\">partnership with students<\/a>\u00a0and delivered through &#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/key-principles\/principle-2-excellence-in-teaching\/\">excellent learning and teaching\u00a0approaches<\/a>. They help to ensure that\u00a0<a href=\"\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/key-principles\/principle-5-assessment-as-learning\/\">assessment\u00a0is a key mechanism for student learning,<\/a>\u00a0with a variety of creative and authentic assessments that provide opportunities for students to apply their learning whilst also developing a range of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/theme-overview\/employability\/graduate-attributes\/\">graduate attributes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Education development is of course never complete as we need to regularly review and reflect upon how things are going and how at an individual, module\/unit and programme level we can make improvements. This\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/learning-enhancement\/\">enhancing learning<\/a>\u00a0phase enables us to respond to student feedback, better support all students to fulfil their potential, and ensure that our education remains current.
