CMI-LMS Summer School in Microlocal Analysis and Applications

Clay Mathematics Institute – London Mathematical Society Research Schools aim to introduce the brightest young mathematicians in the world to active and important areas of research through lectures by international leaders, as well as to help establish these participants as future leaders in their own research communities.

 

Lecture Courses


  1. Alexander Strohmaier (University of Leeds) & Jared Wunsch (Northwestern University) Topic: Basic ideas in microlocal analysis. 
  2. Stéphane Nonnenmacher (Université Paris-Sud, Orsay) & Andrew Hassell (Australian National University) Topics: Spectral and scattering theory.
  3. Viviane Baladi (CNRS, Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu,  UPMC) & Colin Guillarmou (CNRS, Université Paris-Sud, Orsay) Topics: Pollicott-Ruelle resonances, mixing in dynamical systems, and x-ray transforms.

Each course will be 4 to 5 hours long, with 1 to 2 hour long tutorials.

 

Distinguished Lectures


  1. Mark Pollicott (University of Warwick) Topic: Hyperbolic dynamical systems
  2. Gunther Uhlmann (University of Washington, Seattle) Topic: Inverse problems
  3. Nicolas Burq (Université Paris-Sud, Orsay) Topic: Spectral theory and scattering theory

These lectures will be one hour each.

 

Fees and Funding


Research students:  £150  (no charge for subsistence costs)

Early career researchers: £250 (no charge for subsistence costs)

Other participants:  £250 (plus subsistence costs)

The school will be held in Cardiff University, Cardiff, Wales.  All fees are due by 12 May 2017.

Research students who will not have completed their PhDs by the start of the Research School (who would otherwise be unable to attend under the title of “research student”) can apply for financial aid.
