‘Transgender Oppression and Resistance’
Laura Miles will visit Cardiff University to share her knowledge of policy development on trans equality in post-school education. Both through Athena Swan and the GEM charter mark the University is committed to tackling the unfair treatment often experienced by trans people and changing cultures and attitudes across the institution. Laura’s insights will allow colleagues and students from all Schools to get up to speed with questions like those around terminology and understanding what transphobia is and how it affects HE and FE.
Laura will present some of the findings described in her recent article on ‘Transgender oppression and Resistance’ encompassing one of the protected characteristics which it hasn’t sufficiently been addressed in the past, and also promote a dialogue on transgender issues in the University.
