Stories from the cliff-edge: Brexit and Me

Brexit is not just a momentous political decision with enormous economic consequences. Brexit is personal. Brexit is emotional. It affects our own conception of ourselves because it changes who “we” is. This half day event aims to explore the personal dimension of Brexit by giving voice to testimonies of European non-UK citizens residents in Britain and to the experiences of some British Citizens. The event will take place in Chapters Arts Centre on Saturday 9th December 2017 from 2 pm till 7 pm. The event is sponsored by Cardiff University as part of the Cardiff Speaks Initiative.
2-3.30: In Limbo: Brexit testimonies from EU citizens in the UK. Presentation of the project followed by reading of personal testimonies with Elena Remigi, Véronique Martin, Helen De Cruz, Elly Wright and Lars Kretchmer.
3.30-4.30 The view from Wales (including Eluned Gramich, Helen Birtwhistle and Wiard Sterk)
4.30-5.00 Break (plus a chance to buy the book In Limbo)
5.00-6.00 Looking for the Future (Round table: Sam Mejas with some Cardiff University students)
6.00 – 7.00 Reception
