  • Dr Gareth Enticott

    My research examines the impact of bovine Tuberculosis (bTB) amongst farmers and vets. It focuses on how farmers are affected by bTB; farmers' perceptions of disease risk; farmers attitudes towards disease prevention and wildlife control; the governance of animal disease; and the changing status of veterinary expertise in managing animal disease.

    I joined the School of Planning and Geography at Cardiff University in January 2004. Previously I was Senior Lecturer at Pisa University. My areas of expertise include food consumption practices, ethical consumption and animal welfare, human-animals relations, public understanding of science, geographies of science.

  • Dr Alex Franklin

    As Research Fellow at the Sustainable Places Research Institute (PLACE), I am jointly responsible for the Work Package theme of ‘City-Regions in Adaptation and Transition’, with Professor Terry Marsden.

    Prior to joining PLACE I was a Senior Research Associate and Research Manager in the ESRC Centre for Business Relationships, Accountability, Sustainability and Society (BRASS). Here I was primarily responsible for the work package themes of Sustainable Lifestyles and Communities; and Sustainable Consumption and Marketing.

    I hold a degree in Geography (University of Hull), a Post Graduate Diploma in Law (University of Glamorgan), a Post Graduate Diploma in Research Methods (Cardiff University), and a PhD from the School of City and Regional Planning, Cardiff University. In 2003 I was awarded an ESRC Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship.

    I am a Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at the School of Planning and Geography, Cardiff University. My research interests focus on the relations between identity, culture, and place, in particular the actions, practices and politics that such relations produce.

    I have published widely in these areas, most notably the book ‘Understanding Cultural Geography: Places and Traces (2010).

  • Professor Gillian Bristow

    I am interested in regions, particularly regional economies and how they adapt and change. I am currently leading the University’s City Region Exchange flagship engagement project which aims to help shape the Cardiff Capital Region. The capital region was set up by the Welsh Government to boost economic development and job creation in the 10 local authorities of South-East Wales.
