Directory of Expertise
Dr Chris North
I am an Ogden Science Lecturer and STFC Public Engagement Fellow. My primary research focus is the Herschel Space Observatory. I have experience of a very wide range of astronomy, and am happy to speak about almost anything in the field of astronomy.
About my research
My research is currently using the Herschel Space Observatory, though I have experience working with the Planck Satellite and other similar instruments looking at the Cosmic Microwave Background. This covers the birth of stars in our galaxy and beyond, the formation and evolution of galaxies, and the study of the cosmic microwave background and the early Universe. My specific role in Herschel relates to the calibration of data from the SPIRE instrument.
