Giving feedback to students

If you are responsible for marking an assessment, ensure your marking and feedback is prompt and completed within the timescales in your School’s assessment guidelines, and within 20 working days at most, according to University guidelines on timing of academic feedback to taught students, as outlined in the Our commitments (Cardiff University login required) section of the Assessment & Feedback pages on the University intranet.

It is important to provide constructive feedback to each student. Start with positive comments followed by areas for development, if they are needed, and end positively. Be selective, focusing on key areas rather than commenting on absolutely everything.

More guidance from the University can be found on the Providing feedback (Cardiff University login required) section within the Assessment & Feedback pages on the University intranet.
