Following the release of a new OneDrive for Business client by Microsoft in December 2015, the project team have concluded that whilst the previously communicated issues with the client have been satisfactorily resolved, the new client currently suffers from a some ‘notable gaps’. These gaps have the potential to cause significant issues for users: loss of information, multiple copies of the same document and multiple, confusingly names versions of the client.
Because of these issues, the decision has been made to wait for a further period before releasing OneDrive for Business while Microsoft address the gaps and finish moving the missing functionality into the new version of the client.
We acknowledge how frustrating this news may be for many users. However, careful consideration has been given to the option of releasing the service as it stands and it is simply not feasible for the reasons outlined above. Microsoft have given indications that they will be working to resolve the issues during Q1 and Q2 of 2016 and we will be monitoring the situation with a view to releasing OneDrive for Business as soon as is possible.
