Q. Describe the backup regime and processes that will be applied to information?

A. In general Cardiff University systems are subject to the following backup regime: A schedule comprising an appropriate mix of full, weekly incremental and daily incremental backups are run each night. Tapes are stored in a secure physical environment with appropriate access restrictions enforced. At scheduled intervals, tapes are transported by Cardiff staff to alternative physically secure locations geographically dispersed around the Cardiff estate for storage in an appropriate fire safe. Tapes are overwritten after 3 months, and at appropriate points in the life-cycle tapes are physically destroyed with certificates of destruction issued by our contracted third party.

A. For detailed and/or specific information about the backup regime for a particular system one should determine who the system owner is and make inquiries with that person in the first instance.
