Postgraduate Masters degrees

The Department of Politics and International Relations has an expanding programme of exciting Masters degrees which offer opportunities for the advanced study of aspects of European culture, European Union, European history, international relations, political economy and politics (broadly defined).

All master’s degrees are taught by academics who are internationally recognised for their expertise and scholarly publications, as well as being very passionate about politics.

Taught courses we offer

Our teaching is mainly conducted through seminars, which enables in-depth academic debate and discussion in small, relatively informal, groups. Each course is assessed through a combination of module-based essays or exams at the end of the autumn and spring semesters, and then a supervised research dissertation written during the summer, on a topic of your choice.

The academic quality of our master’s degrees is recognised internationally, meaning that postgraduates of Cardiff University are highly desired by employers in a wide range of careers and professions.
