Volunteering at the science fair was<\/span> so<\/span> fun! I got to handle real animal bones and oversaw the game of <\/span>\u2018<\/span>bone snap<\/span>\u2019<\/span> which involved matching bones to differen<\/span>t animals. The game was a hit with both adults and children getting involved. I<\/span>t<\/span> was a great learning experience of thinking on the job<\/span> and adapting to different situation<\/span>s.<\/span> A<\/span>s the session went <\/span>on,<\/span> I<\/span> got more confident in answering questions as well as asking questions to enable the visitors to get the most out o<\/span>f the experience. <\/span>As someone who <\/span>hasn\u2019t<\/span> looked at animal bones before, <\/span>I’ve<\/span> learnt a bunch of interesting facts about how we can use archaeology to learn about the life<\/span> and death<\/span> of the animal<\/span>s. My favourite was when we told visitors about their floa<\/span>ting<\/span> bones <\/span>as we got many fun reactions especially from young children.<\/span> A<\/span>longside<\/span> the bones, we had a microscope which enabled visitors to look at objects such as coins and flint up close.\u00a0<\/span>Overall, <\/span>I<\/span> would highly recommend volunteering at a fair with SHARE with Schools<\/span>. It was a unique experience which enabled me to interact with a range of ages and allowed me to <\/span>develop my skills of conveying information as well as adapting this information depending on who <\/span>I<\/span> was speaking too.<\/span> The coordinators organised <\/span>a really interesting<\/span> stall and <\/span>I’m<\/span> glad <\/span>I<\/span> could have been a part of it.<\/span> <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Volunteering at the science fair was so fun!
