Cardiff Stuttgart Twinning Anniversary Round Table

Next year sees the 60th anniversary of the twinning of the Cities of Cardiff and Stuttgart, one of the world’s oldest twinning links dating back to 1955. Over the past six decades both cities have seen enormous change, but there continues to be a close bond between them and, as a result, it is hoped to mark the 60th anniversary with a series of events to celebrate this link. In advance of the celebration business, community, education and cultural groups were brought together as part of a round table discussion to develop themes and ideas for events to take place in 2015. I was delighted to attend on behalf of Cardiff University and a delegation from the City of Stuttgart joined the round table discussions. The Stuttgart city-region is part of the inspiration behind the development of the Cardiff Capital Region, an initiative which Cardiff University strongly supports.
