UEB 8 February 2016

• Professor Patricia Price noted that she would be stepping down from her PVC Student Experience and Academic Standards position at the end of the end of the academic year. The best wishes of UEB were extended to Professor Price and recognition of her contribution to the University noted.
• It was noted that the first ‘Strategy Workshop’ had been held on 5 February 2016 at which the question of whether the University should have a values-led strategy was discussed.
• The appointment of the new College Deans for Postgraduate Research was noted – Professor Walter Gear (Physical Sciences and Engineering) from 1 February, Professor Martin Kayman (Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences) from 1 March and Dr Emma Kidd (Biomedical and Life Sciences) from 1 April.
• UEB received a paper on actions to improve the University’s citation rates. The recommendations included drawing up a guide and set of actions for maximising citations to be followed by all academics and researchers to be implemented across all three Colleges.  It was agreed that the actions be rolled-out through the Directors of Research meeting.
