  • It was noted that a successful Community Gateway engagement day had been held in Grangetown on 15 October 2016 and with clear engagement with the local community.
  • It was noted that the next edition of Blas would include an invitation for all staff to observe the one minute silence at 9.15 am on 21 October 2016 to remember the Aberfan disaster, 50 years ago.
  • It was noted that the University had sponsored the Iris Prize Youth Jury Award for Best Short at the recent Iris Film Festival.
  • UEB received the latest version of the Capital Investment Programme and noted updates.
  • UEB received the Physical Learning Spaces interim report that was requested by Council. UEB endorsed the continuation of the programme and it was agreed the report would now go on to Policy and Resources Committee and Council.
  • UEB received a paper on the size and shape of the University and the possible future institutional taught student population was discussed.
  • UEB received a paper outlining the terms of reference of the new University Academic Performance Group.
  • UEB received the draft anti bribery policy. It was agreed that subject to minor amendments this paper will be recommended to Governance Committee and Council for adoption and implementation.
  • UEB received the latest version of the Brexit register. The register noted possible risks and opportunities created by the UK’s decision to leave the European Union.  The register is a working document and will be updated periodically.
  • UEB received a briefing on the new Labour shadow cabinet.
