{"id":206,"date":"2015-05-18T14:19:06","date_gmt":"2015-05-18T14:19:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/wccop\/?page_id=206"},"modified":"2015-10-09T14:31:41","modified_gmt":"2015-10-09T14:31:41","slug":"welfare-cases-in-the-court-of-protection-the-views-of-professionals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/wccop\/for-research-participants\/welfare-cases-in-the-court-of-protection-the-views-of-professionals\/","title":{"rendered":"Welfare cases in the Court of Protection: The views of professionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800000\"><em>The closing date for sending in your responses to the survey has been extended beyond September &#8211; we would love to hear from you!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A range of professionals play a role in welfare cases in the Court of Protection, including solicitors, barristers, judges, health and social care\u00a0professionals, litigation friends and advocates. \u00a0We are using\u00a0focus groups and surveys to gather the views\u00a0and experiences of these professionals in relation to accessibility, efficiency and transparency in the Court of Protection.<\/p>\n<h2>Survey<\/h2>\n<p>If you are a professional with experience of the Court of Protection&#8217;s welfare jurisdiction, and would like to take part in our\u00a0survey, you can do so by:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Read the information sheet about the survey:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/wccop\/files\/2015\/05\/Information-about-focus-groups-and-surveys.pdf\">Information about focus groups and surveys<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>NHS staff should also check whether we\u00a0need to seek\u00a0approval from their Trust&#8217;s R&amp;D department for them to complete a survey. \u00a0If so, please contact us. \u00a0You may wish to share this guidance with your manager and Trust R&amp;D Department:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/wccop\/files\/2015\/05\/WCCOP-Information-for-NHS-managers-and-RD.pdf\">WCCOP Information for NHS managers and R&amp;D<\/a>. \u00a0We have provisional approval from ADASS for local authorities.<\/li>\n<li>Read and complete the consent form:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/wccop\/files\/2015\/05\/Survey-Consent-form.docx\">Survey Consent form<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Read and complete the appropriate survey for your organisation and professional background:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Solicitors in private practice:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/wccop\/files\/2015\/05\/Court-of-Protection-Survey-Solicitors.docx\">Court of Protection Survey &#8211; Solicitors<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Barristers:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/wccop\/files\/2015\/05\/Court-of-Protection-Survey-Barristers.docx\">Court of Protection Survey &#8211; Barristers<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Independent Mental Capacity Advocates:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/wccop\/files\/2015\/05\/Court-of-Protection-Survey-IMCAs.docx\">Court of Protection Survey &#8211; IMCAs<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Local authority staff (including social care and legal staff)\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/wccop\/files\/2015\/05\/Court-of-Protection-Survey-LAs.docx\">Court of Protection Survey &#8211; LAs<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Healthcare staff (including both private and NHS healthcare practitioners and solicitors)\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/wccop\/files\/2015\/05\/Court-of-Protection-Survey-Healthcare.docx\">Court of Protection Survey &#8211; Healthcare<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you have completed the survey, please send it back to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.cf.ac.uk\/contactsandpeople\/SeriesL\">Lucy Series<\/a>\u00a0along with the signed consent form. \u00a0Further guidance is contained in the information sheet. \u00a0<strong>The deadline for the survey is 30 September 2015<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Focus groups<\/h2>\n<p>We have been conducting a small number of focus groups with professionals to discuss the questions posed in the survey.
