Previous studies have shown that as runoff increases, the path of runoff in the Arctic Ocean and the strength and cycle of the AMOC also change. However, the specific changes of runoff pathways in Arctic Ocean and AMOC are not clear. There was still a knowledge gap on how the thawing permafrost affect the generation of runoff in Arctic.
