Good design is required to ensure all students can meet their potential, and therefore underpins all successful learning and teaching in Cardiff University.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-6709 media-6709\" class=\"image align-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 561px;height: 373px\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/education-development-toolkit\/files\/2024\/09\/Screenshot-2024-09-30-at-09.28.23.png\" alt=\"Chalk drawing of a student climing steps towards graduation\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>This theme is linked to the PSF 2024 in consideration of A1: design and plan learning activities and\/or programmes, V1: Respecting individual learners and groups of learners, and V2: promoting engagement in learning and equity of opportunity, and the overall requirements for demonstration of \u2018Effective and inclusive practice\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>It supports the Cardiff University Strategy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/about\/our-profile\/strategy\/our-future-together\">\u2018Our Future, Together\u2019<\/a> in supporting \u2018an excellent educational experience for students of all backgrounds\u2019 and the commitment to be &#8216;attractive to students of all ages and backgrounds, learning in a variety of ways, taught using the best pedagogy, enabled by flexible delivery and digital innovation&#8217;.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Structure<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You can read about our approach to inclusivity in design on our first page,\u00a0 Inclusive Design, which includes Universal Design for Learning (UDL).<\/p>\n<p>For those involved or interested in the development of a Programme, read more on our Programme Scoping and Programme Development pages.<\/p>\n<p>The following Module and Session Design page takes you through a consistent, structured approach to designing for your diverse learners, whatever your role. Finally, Designing effective learning with ABC Learning Design gives you a structured approach, developed at UCL for your practice.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Further Learning<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>You will also find the themes that should underpin successful design of learning and teaching (inclusivity, employability and sustainability) in the first section of the toolkit.<\/p>\n<p>For Cardiff University staff: you can develop your understanding of design, by engaging with our related Design for Learning workshops, which are listed on the CPD Programme intranet page.
