Creating Meaningful Opportunities for Students to Participate, Belong and Succeed<\/strong><\/p>\n

This page explores student engagement in higher education and its role in supporting meaningful participation, belonging, and student success. Student engagement extends far beyond mere attendance, participation in learning activities, or the completion of surveys. It encompasses the diverse ways in which students connect with their learning, peers, discipline, and the wider University community, enabling them to become active participants in their educational experience.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>This resource is designed for colleagues who design, deliver, support, and enhance learning and teaching. This includes p<\/span>rogramme and module Leaders, staff involved in Review and Enhancement (RE) processes, colleagues working with Student Representatives, Student Experience Partners (SEPs), and Cardiff 100, and anyone with broader responsibilities for supporting the student voice.<\/p>\n

Student Engagement, Accessibility and Inclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Accessibility and inclusion are fundamental to effective student engagement. Opportunities to engage should not be limited to students who are already confident, highly visible, or familiar with university processes. Instead, engagement activities should be designed to reduce barriers, encourage diverse participation, and provide multiple ways for students to contribute.<\/p>\n

As you work through this page, consider: Who is currently participating, whose voices may be missing, and what barriers might prevent involvement? Engagement opportunities should be accessible, clearly communicated, and embedded throughout the student journey to ensure that all students feel valued, heard, and able to contribute meaningfully.<\/p>\n
