Cardiff Creative Writers Visiting Writers Series: Damian Walford Davies
18/11/2013, 19:00 - 20:30
Poet, writer and librettist Damian Walford Davies teaches in the School of English, Communication and Philosophy at Cardiff University, to which he moved from Aberystwyth University where he was Head of the Department of English & Creative Writing. His co-authored collection, Whiteout (with Richard Marggraf Turley) appeared in 2006, followed by his first Seren collection, Suit of Lights, in 2009. Witch – a novel-in-verse or play-for-voices conjuring the tense atmosphere of the witch-trials of 1640s Suffolk – was published in 2009. 2013 will see the publication of Alabaster Girls by Rack Press, followed in 2015 by his third Seren collection, Judas, in which a shattered Judas Iscariot tells his own story (there are records to set straight). Damian is the editor of a collection of creative non-fiction, Megalith: Eleven Journeys in Search of Stones (2009), and co-author of two word-and-image volumes: Ancestral Houses: The Lost Mansions of Wales (with Siân Melangell Dafydd and Paul White, 2012) and the forthcoming Poets’ Graves (with Mererid Hopwood and Paul White, 2014).
