{"id":2,"date":"2014-06-04T07:47:59","date_gmt":"2014-06-04T07:47:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/hftc\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2014-06-04T07:47:59","modified_gmt":"2014-06-04T07:47:59","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/hftc\/","title":{"rendered":"Human Factors Technology Centre Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/hftc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/287\/2014\/06\/engineering.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10 alignleft\" alt=\"engineering\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/hftc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/287\/2014\/06\/engineering.jpg\" width=\"160\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a>The Human Factors Technology Centre (HFTC) is a multi-disciplinary research centre, housed in Cardiff University\u2019s School of Engineering, and f<span style=\"font-size: 1.285714286rem;line-height: 1.6\">ounded by the Schools of Psychology, Computer Science and Engineering.<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>It is currently led by Director Prof. David Marshall (School of Compute Science) ably assisted by co-directors, Dr. Yulia Hicks (School of Engineering) and Dr. Simon Rusthon (School of Psychology).<\/div>\n<p>Its aim is to de<span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">ve<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714;font-size: 1rem\">lop research in emerging and innovative areas that require collaboration between engineering and human sciences. The centre was set up as a consequence of research funding from the Data and Information Fusion Defence Technology Centre, funded by Ministry of Defence, to research groups in Cardiff University. It was successful in being awarded a Science and Research Infrastructure grant of just under \u00a31M from the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales that supported the development of tailor-made laboratory space.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There is a synergy between the School of Psychology\u2019s work on Human Factors and Human-computer Interaction, Human Vision \u00a0and Visual Computing in the Schools of Computer Science and Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>In addition the HFTC has been supported by industrial grants from General Dynamics UK.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Human Factors Technology Centre (HFTC) is a multi-disciplinary research centre, housed in Cardiff University\u2019s School of Engineering, and founded by the Schools of Psychology, Computer Science and Engineering.
