Mt Roraima 2017

To the roof of the World in Search of Worms

Packed and Ready

It’s time to take to the road again!! This time, it’s the north of the Amazon and the border of Guyana, Brazil and Venezuela. Why – well, we have been tracing the possible routes of human migration into the Amazon…..If you remember, we are trying to use the relationship between earthworm populations that are found on soils created by human activity to trace the movements of pre-Colombian civilisations. This is the third field season and we have traced many of the possible routes, but this one may be the most challenging. Apart from being on three borders, Mt Roramima can only be accessed on foot. So I am packing for a 10 day hike – what commitment and all to collect worms.
