MEDOW’s university parters, Cardiff University, Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya, Universidade do Porto – Faculdade de Engenharia, KU Leuven and Danmarks Tekniske Universitet – Wind Energy Department, along with Imperial College London form the core organisational committee of the annual HVDC Doctoral Colloquium.<\/p>\n
MEDOW co-hosted the Colloquium in 2013, at KU Leuven,\u00a0in 2015, at DTU Wind, and in 2016, at Universidade do Porto.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0 HVDC Doctoral Colloquium series started in 2010 and has grown into an international meeting of some of the most active European universities in the HVDC domain, providing an opportunity for PhD students and researchers to present and exchange their research work.<\/p>\n
The event has been organized by Universidade do Porto (2010 & 2016), Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya – UPC (2011), Cardiff University (2012), KU Leuven (2013), Imperial College London (2014) and DTU Wind (2015).<\/p>\n
The colloquium allows researchers and PhD students to discuss the research they are doing in the rapidly growing field of HVDC transmission for integration of large scale offshore wind power plants and offshore grids.\u00a0 Talks and presentations include topics such as HVDC transmission, control of RES, protection of DC grids, modular multi-level converters (MMC), AC\/DC grids interaction and stability and scaled laboratory setups.<\/p>\n
2016, Universidade do Porto<\/strong><\/p>\n The 7th HVDC Doctoral Colloquium<\/a> colloquium took place\u00a0at the Universidade do Porto in September 2016.<\/p>\n Around 50 researchers took part in three days of exciting sessions on topics covering VSC HVDC protection, energy storage and HVDC ancillary services, and DC power grid simulation.<\/p>\n Programme<\/a><\/p>\n 2015, DTU Wind<\/strong><\/p>\n In September 2015, DTU Wind Energy Department hosted the 6th HVDC Doctoral Colloquium<\/a>.\u00a0 The event was co-organized and supported by the MEDOW consortium, the Nordic Energy Research OffshoreDC consortium<\/a> and the WINDGRID<\/a> network.<\/p>\n Over 50 researchers and professionals from universities, research organisations and industry attended the event.<\/p>\n
