We are delighted to announce that Scintilla<\/em> 28 is now available for purchase on Amazon – click on this link to purchase your copy<\/a>. This issue of the journal has been long delayed, for which we sincerely apologise \u2013 but it\u2019s certainly worth the wait!<\/p>\n

The contents include four essays on interlinked subjects: a reconsideration of Henry Vaughan<\/span>\u2019s last poetic collection, Thalia Rediviva<\/em>; the sacred and profane poetry of his contemporary, Robert Herrick; metaphorical and therapeutic music in Vaughan<\/span>\u2019s writing; and the turbulent history of the Vaughan<\/span>s\u2019 Usk Valley in the mid-seventeenth century. These articles are interspersed with forty new poems in the \u2018metaphysical tradition\u2019 by living writers hailing from places as far afield as California, Michigan, New York, Trinidad, Wales, Northern Ireland and Essex. The essays and poems are preceded by an obituary of Jeremy Hooker, poet, critic and frequent contributor to Scintilla<\/em>, and the issue concludes, appropriately, with a review of Hooker\u2019s final book, Addiction: A Love Story<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Scintilla<\/em> 28 has been edited by Simon Jackson, with the assistance of the poetry editors, Katherine Stansfield and Damion Walford Davies, and it is beautifully illustrated with delicate studies by Welsh nature artist, Rachel Porter.<\/p>\n

We should like to take this opportunity to thank the previous editor, Joe Sterrett, for many years of inspiration and service to Scintilla<\/em> and the Vaughan <\/span>Association<\/span>. It is also a great pleasure to welcome Simon Jackson as the new editor of the journal; he would like you to know that he\u2019s already at work on Scintilla<\/em> 29…<\/p>\n
