With a crossover of CEIAG in curriculum e.g., CV sessions, Employer presentations, Work Experience, Employer Engagement in the curriculum.\" width=\"1625\" height=\"1027\" \/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">CEIAG = Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance Adapted from AGCAS (2022)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">AdvanceHE Frameworks (02): Embedding Employability in Higher Education (2019)<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Employability Threads<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Student Futures has developed four overarching employability threads that encapsulate the employability-related learning and teaching that should be woven into all aspects of the student experience via both curricular and extra-curricular means:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-1663 media-1663\" class=\"image align-center\">\n<figure id=\"post-1664 media-1664\" class=\"image align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.cardiff.ac.uk\/student-futures-framework\/files\/2024\/11\/2-e1730710486912.png\" alt=\"Employability threads, four circles that contain the employability thread icons. \" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Career Development Learning<\/h4>\n<figure id=\"post-1317 media-1317\" class=\"image align-center\"><\/figure>\n<p>For students to navigate and succeed in an increasingly fluid and complex world of work, they need support in acquiring the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will equip them to manage their careers effectively.<\/p>\n<p>Career development learning is defined as:<\/p>\n<div class=\"well\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff\"><strong>&#8220;The acquisition of capabilities that are useful to the lifelong development and management of one\u2019s career, grounded in an ongoing authentic learning-based process that builds knowledge of the world of work and one\u2019s self. This process develops the learner\u2019s ability to make sense of and synthesise this knowledge, and form the basis for effective decision-making relating to career choices, professional development and career building activity including work acquisition&#8221;.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong class=\"\" style=\"color: #d3374a\"><b>Bridgstock, Grant-Iramu and McAlpine, 2019<\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Through career development learning, students will enhance their self-awareness, opportunity-awareness, career decision-making and ability to transition into the workplace with confidence.<\/p>\n<h4>Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education<\/h4>\n<p>For some students, the transition into the world of work will involve them in a business start-up or social enterprise programme. An entrepreneurial mindset is also recognised by employers as adding value to the development of an organisation. Therefore, enterprise and entrepreneurship education form a key part of the Student Futures Framework.<br \/>\nQAA (2018) has defined Enterprise as:<\/p>\n<div class=\"well\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff\"><strong>&#8220;Enterprise can be defined as the generation and application of ideas, which are set within practical situations during a project or undertaking&#8230; It combines creativity, originality, initiative, idea generation, design thinking, adaptability and reflexivity with problem identification, problem solving, innovation, expression, communication and practical action&#8221;.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong class=\"\" style=\"color: #d3374a\"><b>QAA, 2018<\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>and Entrepreneurship education as:<\/p>\n<div class=\"well\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff\"><strong>\u201cEntrepreneurship Education is defined as the application of enterprise behaviours, attributes and competencies into the creation of cultural, social or economic value. This can, but does not exclusively, lead to venture creation. Entrepreneurship applies to both individuals and groups (teams or organisations), and it refers to value creation in the private, public and third sectors, and in any hybrid combination of the three\u201d.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong class=\"\" style=\"color: #d3374a\"><b>QAA, 2018<\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Through enterprise and entrepreneurship education, students will explore and develop their entrepreneurial skills, mindset and creative thinking, learn how to set up a business or become a freelancer and learn how to promote themselves and their business with impact.<\/p>\n<h4>Global Citizenship Education<\/h4>\n<p>Cardiff University recognises the importance of students acting as global citizens, engaging with and valuing cultural difference via internationally focussed learning and teaching and\/or through practical experience of other countries.<\/p>\n<p>The United Nations (UNESCO, 2014) defines Global Citizenship Education as:<\/p>\n<div class=\"well\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff\"><strong>&#8220;Nurturing respect for all, building a sense of belonging to common humanity and helping learners become responsible and active global citizens. It is a form of civic learning that involves students\u2019 active participation in projects that address global issues of a social, political, economic or environmental nature&#8221;.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong class=\"\" style=\"color: #d3374a\"><b>UNESCO, 2014<\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Through global citizenship education students will develop their global awareness and cultural competence, learn about social responsibility, sustainability and environmental stewardship, and engage in projects and experiences with a global focus.<\/p>\n<p>The Student Futures Framework follows the International Sub-strategy (Cardiff University, 2021) to promote international mobility activities as key aspect of the with a focus on<\/p>\n<div class=\"well\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff\"><strong>&#8220;Studying, working or volunteering in an international setting for at least two weeks, or gaining other substantive international experience as part of a student\u2019s university experience&#8221;.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong class=\"\" style=\"color: #d3374a\"><b>Cardiff University, 2021<\/b><\/strong><\/div>\n<h4>Work-Based Learning<\/h4>\n<p>For students to effectively bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application and develop essential skills required by employers, it is crucial that they learn from practical experiences whilst at university.\u00a0QAA (2018) define Work-Based Learning as:<\/p>\n<div class=\"well\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff\"><strong>&#8220;Learning through work, learning for work and\/or learning at work. It consists of authentic structured opportunities for learning which are achieved in a workplace setting or are designed to meet an identified workplace need.
