  • UEB received a paper from the PVC for Research, Innovation and Enterprise on the Research Infrastructure Fund (RIF).  It was agreed to continue the £2M RIF investment for 2015/16 but that the scheme should be reviewed for the year after with detailed priority listing of research equipment to be developed.
  • UEB received a discussion paper from the PVC for Student Experience and Academic Standards on her recent trip to Australia and Singapore to investigate how world-class institutions outside the UK were approaching the challenges of delivering high quality learning and teaching in a research-intensive context.  It was agreed that proposals be worked up on what an additional week in the curriculum could look like, reviewing the impact in terms of cost, staff availability, workload, accommodation etc. and this be brought back to a future UEB meeting.

  • Monthly Activity Report: Academic Standards & Student Experience.  The report updated UEB on progress on items in the Education Change Portfolio and the Assessment and Feedback action plan.
