New Dean to lead learning and teaching innovation

26 November 2015

Last week saw exciting developments in the future of Learning and Teaching at Cardiff. At the beginning of the week we appointed a Dean for Education Innovation, Dr Robert Wilson from MATHS, and his role will help shape and guide the Centre for Education Innovation. The Centre is the keystone project in the Academic Engagement Programme, part of the wider Education Portfolio, and is Cardiff’s long-term investment in learning and teaching. On Thursday we had the Centre’s official launch and the event was a great success, with over 200 colleagues joining us on the day. During the sessions, we had fantastic presentations from a variety of academics demonstrating the top-quality and innovative work they are already doing in learning and teaching. We also highlighted some of the great initiatives the Centre is already developing, such as innovation funding for academics, a new CPD framework, a University-wide resource bank, as well as detailing how you can engage with the Centre to develop the offering longer-term. The lunch recess gave colleagues an opportunity to network, to find out more about other projects within the portfolio, and to post their thoughts and feedback. This is a new-dawn at Cardiff University and we urge colleagues to engage with us to help us shape the future landscape of learning and teaching.
