Shining summer sunshine on our ideas and partnerships

20 June 2016

Miraculously, the sun has been visible across Wales in recent weeks. And we’ve been taking advantage of this rare phenomenon to shine light on our innovative partnerships.

Over the next four months, we’re showcasing our brightest ideas and research, bringing around 20 Cardiff University events together under the umbrella – or parasol, perhaps – of a Summer of Innovation.

Cardiff University’s Innovation and Impact Awards, held each summer, showcase our achievements. The dinner, on 22 June, will celebrate five amazing projects that span our three Colleges.

Summer of Innovation features a wide range of innovation events, from hack days to seminars and workshops. We want everyone to get involved.

Beyond these seasonal celebrations is a deep need to thank our academic staff for their tireless pursuit of innovation all year round, and also to thank our professional staff who help our leading researchers build long-lasting relationships with our external partners, champion spin-outs and start-ups, and developing Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.

As all our projects show, innovation is an open and collaborative process. The development of the University’s £300m Innovation Campus will allow us to do more. The official opening of the Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre has put the University’s growing reputation for innovation firmly on the world stage. That gives us good cause for a Summer of Celebration.
