This September, Wales will host the largest gathering of international leaders ever to take place in Britain as the UK hosts the NATO summit.
The University has established a Major Incident Contingency Planning Group and dedicated web pages have been created to present the most up-to-date information leading up to and during the summit (September 4 and 5).
Please note the following updates from the recent Contingency Planning Group:
ID Cards: Please remember to carry your University ID card at all times and ensure it is visible. It is likely that ID cards will be checked. University ID cards are also to temporary staff and Schools and Professional Services employing temporary staff are advised to get ID cards for temporary staff.
Public transport: It is intended that public transport will operate as normally as possible and will be the recommended way of travelling to and within Cardiff during the critical period. Check the Cardiff Council website for more information.

Parking near the University: It is expected that there will be limited car parking in the civic centre area. Access roads will also be subject to restrictions.
Air travel
Cardiff airport will be used for the arrival and departure of Summit delegates and their staff. It is expected that delegates and support staff will start arriving at the airport on the afternoon of Wednesday 3 September and the morning of Thursday 4 September. Delegates will leave in the afternoon on Friday 5 September.
There will be increased traffic on the route from the airport to the Celtic Manor Hotel and the police will be operating rolling roadblocks along the route to ensure the delegate’s safety. Port Road (A4050), Culverhouse Cross, the A4232 and the M4 will be directly affected along with other roads joining these.
