Wales and South West AFP Interview Preparation Weekend

CUReS Medicine joined forces with Dr Nick Bullock (founder of CUReS and Cardiff Alumnus) with a mission to host the first ever Academic Foundation Programme Preparation Course. This event took place over the weekend of 1st-2nd November 2014 upon the Heath Park campus and was attended by 19 final year medical students from Cardiff, Bristol and the Peninsula medical schools.

The first day scheduled a mixture of academic skills and clinical scenario workshops, hosted by academic foundation doctors as well as academic clinical fellows from hospitals across both Wales and England! The second day then provided the students a chance to partake in a mock AFP interview with the opportunity to receive feedback straight away, in the hope to guide their preparation for their forthcoming interviews.

Although a jam-packed timetable across the weekend, it was pleasant to meet other medical students from different universities. Experiences were shared and advice imparted amongst everybody. All in all, attendees and the faculty enjoyed the AFP Interview Preparation Weekend and were eager for the event to become a regular occurrence in years to come …

Keep your eyes peeled for next year!
