We released our first CD in 2014. The pieces featured on the CD include works by School of Music alumni William Mathias, Yfat Soul Zisso, and Morfydd Owen, as well as the rarely-performed 1881 version of Liszt’s Totentanz. The CD, which costs £10, is available to buy online through Prima Facie Records.
Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra
We launched our second CD in November 2015 at St David’s Hall in Cardiff. It includes the Debussy pieces we performed as world premieres at St David’s Hall during the Philharmonia Ochestra’s City of Light Festival, as well as a work by Dr Rob Fokkens, Lecturer in Composition at the School of Music.
The two Debussy works – Prélude à l’histoire de Tristan and No-Ja-Li ou Le Palais du Silence – were left unfinished when Debussy died in 1918. They have since been completed and orchestrated by Robert Orledge, a leading expert on French music – and were performed in public for the first time by Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra and Mark Eager in March 2015. These exciting new discoveries are juxtaposed with the UK premiere of André Jolivet’s beguiling song-cycle Poèmes intimes with baritone soloist Jeremy Huw Williams.
This CD is also available to buy online through Prima Facie Records.
