In a new article published in the journal Global Affairs, LLP team member Dr. Bueger reviews the five root causes of piracy and reflects on whether the current counter-piracy response is tackling these successfully. Coming to the conclusion that the current response raises questions of sustainability the discussion turns to the general lessons that can be learned from the rise and fall of Somali piracy for maritime security governance more broadly.
