Approximately 300 square metres of space in the School of Engineering has been refurbished to accommodate researchers, research leaders and visiting researchers , individual study areas, a local area network, a human performance laboratory, three interconnected booths, a rapid prototyping facility for proof-of-concept hardware and software systems, and general-purpose laboratory bench space.

The human performance laboratory aims to investigate many aspects of human communication and interaction through imaging, video, audio, and motion capture.

The School of Psychology has designed three interconnected booths to provide sound damped facilities for projects concerning both individual and collaborative team communications, and the effect of varying synchronisation schedules in the coordination of work activities and communications.

These have eye-trackers that are used extensively for experimental work in Human Factors and Human-computer Interaction.
