For foster carers

About three-quarters of children in care (looked-after children) live with foster carers. The legal term for a foster carer under the Social Services and Well-being Act 2014 is a ‘local authority foster parent’. This term describes someone who has been approved under regulations made under section 93 of the Act.

Please check other pages on this website for information about the law and caring for looked-after children that may be helpful to foster carers.
