Research

My research focuses on:

  • Molecular Phylogeny of earthworms (principally on Hormogastridae, endemic to the Mediterranean area)
  • Cryptic speciation
  • Reproductive Biology of earthworms
  • Application of molecular markers in the study of earthworms
  • Adaptation and genetic response (gene expression and epigenetics) of earthworms to stressful environments (i.e. volcanic environments and toxicology)
