Principle 1: Engaging Learning Experiences

‘Engaging’ learning focuses on putting the student at the heart of the learning experience. It is about creating learning experiences that are interesting and stimulating, and which capture students’ attention.

Principle 2: Excellence in Teaching

Building up your own knowledge, and the skills in your team, will give you the best chance of success, with excellent inclusive teaching and learning support helping students and staff to thrive.

Principle 3: Partnership and Co-Creation

We must work with students as partners to enable co-creation of the student experience, with staff and students’ different inputs and insights equally valued.

Principle 4: Effective Learning Environments

As teaching practitioners, we have the power to design, foster and weave together learning environments to ensure that students have an effective and engaging learning experience.

Principle 5: Assessment as Learning

Developing approaches to assessment that foreground tasks that students can use as ‘assessment AS learning’, and that prompt ‘assessment FOR learning’ will have a beneficial impact on students: on their engagement and on the quality of outcomes typically achieved.
