My SHARE with Schools Experience – Volunteer Blog Post: Bella Leather

12 May 2026
I have completed two placements with the Share with Schools scheme, and I have found both experiences incredibly useful for expanding my confidence in the classroom and deepening my understanding of how a classroom works.
My most recent experience, at Cathays High School, involved helping to deliver a workshop on Welsh history. We were responsible for guiding students in analysing census data, certificates, and artefacts to help them gain a fuller understanding of the past. Despite feeling nervous beforehand, the volunteers instantly made me feel reassured and excited for the day ahead.
My favourite aspect of guiding a workshop is seeing the inquisitive minds of the pupils. Their creativity and enthusiasm for learning is inspiring and has helped cement my passion for pursuing a career in primary education. I have found these school experiences vital in expanding my overall experience within schools. Not only have I been able to build experience for my CV, but this opportunity has also provided me with the confidence to guide and support students effectively. I have learnt valuable skills in keeping pupils engaged and encouraging participation within the classroom.
Working with Share with Schools has been a genuine joy, and I am very grateful to be leaving university with experience that will tremendously support my future career prospects.
