Primary School Graduation Event – 17/06/25

It was a pleasure to be a part of the Cardiff University Primary School Graduation event again this year. Taking place in the Centre for Student life building, pupils from four local primary schools (Pencaerau, St Fagans, Hywel Dda & Nant Caerau) took part in a range of exciting activities delivered by departments across the university.

At the SHARE with Schools stand, pupils learned about how people in ancient Mesopotamia used and carried their own cylinder seals. These were small stamp impressions that were used to authenticate correspondence – a bit like a signature today. Pupils then got to create their own cylinder seal out of clay, thinking about what images they would use to represent their identity. Some brilliant designs were produced, including floral patterns, favourite animals and event favourite foods!
